RACE PILOT
Developed for F1 performance
Halda has a proud history in motorsports and developed one of the first instruments used in professional racing in the 60s – the iconic Halda Speed Pilot. Modern racing could easily be described as space engineering on the ground and, given our motorsports legacy, developing the first true watch for racing was inevitable.
Based on the unique Halda Concept, and featuring two interchangeable modules, the Halda Race Pilot delivers a host of racing-orientated features with its in-house electronic module, while the mechanical module provides style and precision from its Zenith movement. Its digital technology has been put to the test under real racing conditions before being fine-tuned to perfection by the Halda team.
Diamond-like carbon
For a high strength-to-weight ratio, the Race Pilot’s case and bezel are made of Titanium. To keep that luxurious racing look they are coated with black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon). DLC is a nanocomposite coating that has unique properties like diamond’s natural low friction, high hardness, and high corrosion resistance. These attributes make it ideal for engine components such as fuel injection systems, valve trains and pistons but also in watchmaking for the same reasons.
The platform
The Race Pilot time platform furthers the principles of our founder in a modular system that brings together cutting-edge race timing with the pure beauty of mechanical horology. Each module is optimized for its task and Halda’s patented locking system allows you to change between them in seconds. A complete package of uncompromising functional and aesthetical superiority.

On or off the track – never compromise
Pushing the limit takes precision. Perfection. The Race Pilot is developed for those who will stop at nothing to finish first. Those who spend hours and hours in order to reach their goals. For these dedicated, passionate few, the concept of winning is infused into their dna, and with it the fearless ability to seize on the smallest opportunities to edge out their opponents. As our founder once stated, ‘There is no room for mistakes if you want to become the best.’ Whether you are on or off the track – never compromise.
The first real racing watch
To meet the extreme demands incurred on and around the race track, the Race Module is equipped with sophisticated technology and advanced functions that make a genuine difference in professional racing. The watch has been developed in close cooperation with Formula One drivers and technicians and put through an extensive testing period on the racetracks.
With an engine by Zenith
The mechanical module of the Halda Race Pilot brings together the best of two worlds. It has an elaborate Swedish design inspired by the world of racing and is equipped with one of the best movements in watchmaking by the highly regarded Swiss mechanical movement producer – Zenith.

Functions & Features
It Keeps Track - All 150 of them
Developed together with professional race drivers and engineers to perform under the rigors of racing. The Race Pilot software features key information about 150 of the world’s most prestigious racetracks.
Calculating Average Speed
The Race Pilot is the first wristwatch in the world to calculate the average speed of a car on the track. To do this it uses the racetrack information programmed in its software and measures lap times with an accuracy down to 1/100 of a second. To make things even more interesting, it can do this for two cars simultaneously.
Night Race Indicator
In order to help race engineers and spectators keep track of their team’s car, the Race Module features a red light indicator that flashes, indicating that their car is approaching.
FIA Formula 1 Countdown
The Race Pilot is programmed to show the time remaining until Formation Lap — in accordance with the Formula 1 regulations of Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile. This is a warning system developed for race engineers in particular and allows them to keep tabs on when the grid opens and closes, when the tires should be fitted and more.
Sound Amplifying Design
When designing Halda timepieces, focus is on creating watches where form is in harmony with function. As such, the Race Pilot even has its own acoustic design merits. The platform of the watch is developed to create a resonance effect and to amplify the various sound levels of its alarms. This is accomplished by four openings in the platform, where the sound is let out, instead of being muted by the wrist.
Frequencies to Match
The alarm signals are developed together with some of the best sound experts, with the set target of creating the optimal sound profile for a wristwatch. The alarm signal in the Race Module has a sound level up to 90 dB (decibel) and it is based on four carefully selected frequencies between 2.5 and 8 kHz in order to be audible in loud surroundings.
Easy to Use Interface
We have gone to great lengths when developing the user interface. Even though the Race Pilot is packed with advanced functions, using it is simplicity itself – even without the user’s manual. It has a menu that quickly guides you through the features, with three pushers in different colors allowing you to manage the Race Module’s features with ease.
