As previously announced the Halda Space Discovery limited edition received the Red Dot Design Award this year.
On July 2nd representatives from Halda Watch Co collected the award – often referred to as the Nobel Prize of Design, at the Aalto-Theater in Essen, Germany. We are proud to be among other winning brands such as Porsche, Apple, Philips and BMW.

While you are reading this, the watchmakers at Halda are replacing the first sapphire crystal of the Space Module with the Hesalite crystal – a space proven material. As you may know, it is mandatory to exchange the crystal before going to space due to safety percussions. Although the sapphire crystal is scratch resistant, it shatters when broken, making it a hazard in space. The Hesalite crystal, on the other hand, is more sensitive to scratches though almost impossible to shatter. Hence, making it more suited for space missions. Whenever an owner of the Space Module is going to space Halda will exchange the sapphire, and now it is time again.

With more than 14.000 entries from over 70 countries, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the biggest design competitions in the world.
